What are cosmetic injectables?

Cosmetic injectables are substances injected into your skin to minimize wrinkles, enhance your facial contours, or even eliminate unwanted fat. 

At Dazzling Dermatology, Dr. Rudnick offers multiple types of cosmetic injectables to improve the appearance of your skin. Unlike plastic surgery, injectables are minimally invasive with little to no downtime.

What are the different types of cosmetic injectables?

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators smooth fine lines and wrinkles by targeting the muscles that cause them. Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are popular neuromodulators that Dr. Rudnick offers. Once injected into a specific muscle, a neuromodulator temporarily paralyzes its movement. Then, the wrinkled skin gradually relaxes and softens.

Neuromodulators treat expression lines, such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, and glabellar lines, which develop from repeated muscle movement. They can also treat hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating.

Injections take only a few minutes, and results appear within 1-7 days. All neuromodulators last for about 3-6 months* before wearing off.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers inject hyaluronic acid, a substance your body naturally produces, into your soft tissues to restore lost volume. Fillers primarily treat static wrinkles, which result from volume loss rather than movement. Deep nasolabial folds and marionette lines are common types of wrinkles that fillers treat.

Dr. Rudnick may also recommend fillers if you want plumper lips, hollow cheeks, or more defined facial contours. Like neuromodulators, injecting fillers only takes a few minutes and requires no downtime. Results are instant and last for 6-12 months or longer*.

Deoxycholic acid

Kybella® is a deoxycholic acid treatment that removes excess fat underneath the chin. If you have a double chin, Kybella can eliminate this submental fullness without surgery. Most patients need about 3-6 treatments, spaced one month apart, to achieve optimal results. Each treatment lasts about 15-20 minutes and requires little to no downtime.
